for the past 22 years in Toronto, New York City, Maui, Honolulu, and
the San Francisco Bay Area. She has owned and operated The Quan Gallery
in Waikiki which featured her work as well as The Quan Gallery on
Maui, which she ran as an artist co-op gallery. She is an inspiration
and mentor to many artists and has decades of hands-on experience
and accumulated knowledge in business and in marketing and promotion
in both the commercial and fine art worlds. She is passionate about
sharing her experiences and knowledge with you, through the products
and services offered on this website.
Carolyn was born in Toronto, Canada, lived in New York City for 11
years and now resides in Emeryville, California. Her accomplishments
in life began at an early age and include several awards for leadership,
scholarship, athletics and art, beginning in highschool. In art college,
Carolyn was the recipient of the CityTV - MuchMusic Scholarship which
included full tuition for her fourth year of studies and a summer
internship at the MuchMusic television station which is Canada's version
of MTV. After working as a graphic designer in television for 3 years
in Toronto, Carolyn headed to New York City to pursue her dream of
designing album covers in the music industry. Shortly after moving
to NYC, she was offered a job as an Art Director at Arista Records
where she went on to become the recipient of four gold records for
her creative contributions to recording projects by Barry Manilow,
Carly Simon, Yes and the Grateful Dead. After 3 years at Arista Records,
Carolyn started her own graphic design company which specialized in
the music and entertainment industries. Clients included PolyGram
Records, Warner Music Int'l, Sony Music, TriStar, CBS Radio, and Black
Entertainment Television, just to name a few. In 1997, Carolyn created
and launched a full-color glossy multicultural magazine, Urban
Mozaik, which promotes cross cultural understanding and celebrates
diversity and was distributed throughout Canada and the United States
at major bookstores such as Barnes and Noble and Borders. It continues
to be published today on the internet as an online magazine.
In 2000, Carolyn moved to Maui, Hawaii, and after 9-11 launched her
career in fine art. Carolyn and her art have been featured in magazines,
newspapers, television and radio and two of her nudes are included
in the permanent collection of art at The Kinsey Institute for Research
in Sex, Gender and Reproduction in Bloomington, Indiana, which was
founded by world renowned sex researcher, Dr. Alfred Kinsey. Carolyn
has progressed through her fine art career at an accelerated speed
and now enjoys a life filled with creativity, travel, family, friends,
adventure, teaching/mentoring and doing art shows around the world.
